“One of the key driving factors of our business has been booming in mainly growth of the e-commerce industry” says Clarence Leong, CEO of EasyParcel.
Back in 2014, EasyParcel was a bedroom of startup in Penang with just 5 people. It grew faster than we expected till today which our service has landed in 4 regions: Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. Now, we’re serving up to 580,000+ users with a total of 20,000,000 shipments have been delivered via our platform.
Today (16th July 2019) marks a remarkable day for EasyParcel as we got up to US$10.6 millions in Series B funding from the rebranded cargo and logistic platform of Airasia’s, Teleport and leading venture capital firm from Gobi Partner.
“Our mission is to address last-mile delivery challenges. Since we started in 2014, we have been successfully making in-roads in Malaysia as well as Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore.”
“The funding from Teleport and Gobi Partners is key to strengthening our footprint in those existing markets,” Clarence said.
As mentioned during the press conference, this Series B round took our team almost a year to close, neither Gobi Ventures or AirAsia Teleport, were in a rush to close the deal as well.
“We are not limit ourselves to just eCommerce even though that’s where we started,” he says. By having trust of AirAsia and Gobi Partners on our shoulder, we aimed to grow social and eCommerce across Asean by empowering delivery solution for our close to half a million SME customers via Teleport’s unrivalled logistics and infrastructure capabilities which include more than 100 cities, 10,000 AirAsia flights per week and some 1,000,000+ tonnes of cargo capacity.
We’re more than grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and excited to start our journey together. “1% done, 99% of journey to go”, says Clarence. With international routes of AirAsia Teleport, our team has started to work together with them in order to expand our service offerings to customers in the near future.
On behalf of EasyParcel team, we also want to express our highly gratitude toward Axiata Digital Innovation Fund (ADIF) and angel investors in January 2016. And of course our courier partners and everyone who gave us your overwhelming supports along the 5 years journey and still counting!
